Anannya Vaidya has been practising theatre for 6 years now. Her Master’s in English literature is what inspired her passion for storytelling. She has already performed in Abhivyakti Edition 4 in the play ‘Marilynbai Monroe Cha Tamasha’. In this edition of Abhivyakti City Arts Project, Anannya debuts as a director of a full play with her concept titled ‘Vahi Kahani, Phir’. It is a collection of stories of women from all across India. Inspired by songs and folklore, these are the stories of ordinary women, some that we have been listening to for ages and some we have forgotten, Anannya brings a rendition of her own to them. Her main inspiration behind the production has been the likes of a ‘nautanki’. While bringing her modern storytelling into the play, her concept touches upon feminism along with a commentary on storytelling itself.
